Generalized pustular psoriasis (von Zumbusch)
2022, Anais Brasileiros de DermatologiaCitation Excerpt :Many studies suggest that vitamin D plays a role in epidermal cell differentiation and proliferation and cell adhesion requires cadherins, calcium-dependent molecules. There are cases of hyperparathyroidism and hypocalcemia with pustular psoriasis that reversed only with correction of the calcium disturbance.32,33 Data from the European Registry of Severe Cutaneous Adverse Reactions (EuroSCAR) on the risk of severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions with 97 cases of generalized pustulosis and 1,009 controls showed that the drugs associated with GPP were pristinamycin, ampicillin or amoxicillin, quinolones, (hydroxy) chloroquine, sulfonamides, terbinafine, and diltiazem.
Prevalent and rare mutations in IL-36RN gene in chinese patients with generalized pustular psoriasis and psoriasis vulgaris
2013, Journal of Investigative DermatologyCitation Excerpt :On the other hand, the age of GPP onset differed in the c.115+6T>C mutant individuals, which also suggested that the specific immunological or biological environment might lead to various pathogenical results. For example, the avoidance of the several triggering factors, such as bacterial infection, mediation, stress, and hypocalcemia, might delay the onset of GPP (Zelickson and Muller, 1991). Taken together, the data above strongly indicated the existence of environmental factors or other regulatory genes may also have a role in the pathogenic process of GPP.
Autoinflammatory pustular neutrophilic diseases
2013, Dermatologic ClinicsCitation Excerpt :However, in children, a male predominance is seen (male-to-female ratio 3:2). Male children have an earlier age of disease onset (3.5 months of age), compared with females (8 years of age).75 Although pustular psoriasis has long been believed to be a variant of psoriasis, pustular psoriasis and its variants have distinct HLA susceptibility loci, which suggests that these 2 categories of disease may be genetically distinct.76,77
Efficacy and safety of treatments for childhood psoriasis: A systematic literature review
2010, Journal of the American Academy of DermatologyCitation Excerpt :Photochemotherapy (psoralen plus UVA [PUVA] radiation) was the treatment examined in two case reports44,45 and one case series.46 Five studies were excluded47-51: grounds for exclusion were systemic combination therapy in 3 cases,47-49 unclear diagnosis in one case,50 and unclear treatment regimen in another case.51 All studies included were classified as LOE 4, except for two case reports that were classified as LOE 5.44,45
