2021, Saudi Journal of Biological SciencesCitation Excerpt :High-risk HPV types have been identified as a major causative agent in cervical cancer, while low-risk types have been associated with formation of skin lesions known as warts (Bosch et al., 2002; Senapati et al., 2016). Warts are benign hyperproliferative tumors that are induced by low-risk HPV infection, with cases often resolving in a spontaneous manner (Jabłońska et al., 1997). Depending on the HPV type, warts can differ from one another based on their morphology, histology, anatomical localization, and potential to cause malignant transformation (Egawa et al., 2015).
